感想 Review
アメリカで発売されたドラゴンボールZのTVシリーズです。
"The Ultimate Uncut Special Edition"が途中で発売が止まり、どうしたのかなと思っていたらこのシリーズが始まり、最初は何が起こったのか混乱してました。デジタルリマスターというのが売りのようで、SEASON ONEの特典映像でも紹介されていますが、よりクリアな映像でドラゴンボールZをソフト化するという流れがあったようですね。どうせここでUNCUTで発売するなら"The Ultimate Uncut Special Edition"はもういらないんじゃないか、ということだったんでしょうか。
自分はあまり画質などは気にしないので、リマスターしましたと言われても「ああ、こういうのが綺麗な画質なのか」と思ってしまう程度です。ただこのシリーズに関してはアスペクト比も変わっていて、16:9になっているのは多少面白いかな、と思います。上下がカットされただけでなく、左右がちょっと広がっているんですね。
音声は英語音声と日本語音声ですが、英語音声には2種類あり、日本版のBGMを使用しているトラックと、放送時のBGMを使用しているトラックがあります。
英語版のOPには映画でも使われていたMark Menzaのインスト曲が使われています。EDではBroadcast Versionの方のみ"The Ultimate Uncut Special Edition"と同じ曲が使われていて、日本語版BGMの方では"でてこいとびきりZENKAIパワー！"ないし"僕達は天使だった"が使われています。
メインメニューにMarathon Featureというモードがあり、歌や前回のあらすじを省略して再生していきます(最初の1話のみOPあり)。日本のDRAGON BOXでのストーリーモードのような機能ですね。
どのシーズンも6枚組です。Disc 6にのみExtrasが収録されています。各ディスク面のデザインをもうちょっと差をつけてほしかった気もしますね。
アメリカのDVDとしては珍しく、冊子状のライナーノートがついています。内容はキャラクタープロファイルやエピソード解説など。20ページ前後。
39話と41話でサブタイトルが同じなのはたまたまなんでしょうか。
